Readers,
The Presidential race is heating up. The NYTimes is reporting that Obama is gaining an edge in Ohio and Florida, but until the debates are held and Europe can give us some certainty that it’s not about to spiral downward into chaos (RE: political instability in Spain and Greece), then it is too early to tell.
Still, I want to pass this analysis on recent polls to folks who are interested in where the United States stands at the moment. For one, the following, according to three major news sources, are our swing states:
- New York Times: CO, FL, IA, NC, NH, NV, OH, VA, WI
- Politico: CO, FL, IA, NC, NH, NV, OH, VA, WI
- Washington Post: CO, FL, IA, NV, NH, VA, WI
For our most recent polls, we have:
- Bloomberg : Obama 49%, Romney 43%
- Gallup: Obama 48%, Romney 45%
- NBC News/WSJ: Obama 50%, Romney 45%
- New York Times:
- Obama 51.2%, Romney 47.7%
- Real Clear Politics:
- Obama 48.9%, Romney 44.9%
Alright, well, that’s about all I could muster up. I hope this helps you with ‘orienting’ yourself around the elections. However, one person has emailed me with a great question. It goes as follows:
“There have been a lot of laws against minorities in regards to certain ID requirements and other techniques by the GOP; don’t you think this will impact the actual votes come November?”
I think this person was absolutely right in asking such a question. To be honest, the answer deserves more research.
Until the next post…
Very truly yours,
P. Anthony Arias
